Five Towns College Men Capture Conference Road Win Over Villa Maria College, 73-64
Buffalo, NY – February 6, 2026 – The Five Towns College men's basketball team earned a key conference victory on the road Friday night, defeating Villa Maria College, 73-64. The Sound improve to 7-16 overall and 3-9 in conference play with the win.
Five Towns shot an efficient 48.4% from the field and knocked down 46.7% from three-point range, building a 41-28 halftime advantage behind a blistering 58.6% shooting performance in the opening half.
Leading the charge was Tayron Bangs, who delivered a game-high 28 points on 11-of-23 shooting, including five three-pointers. Bangs also added five rebounds and four steals, providing a spark on both ends of the floor.
"Tayron was aggressive and confident tonight," said the Five Towns head coach. "He stepped into his shots and made big plays when we needed them, especially in the first half to build that lead."
Angel Redding added an efficient 18 points on 9-of-12 shooting while contributing four rebounds and two steals. Khamari Broomfield provided an offensive boost with 13 points in just 12 minutes of action, shooting 5-of-9 from the field.
On the defensive end, Naejon Ward made his presence felt despite not scoring, pulling down seven rebounds and dishing out a team-high seven assists. Myles Gregory contributed 10 points, six rebounds, and three steals to round out a balanced team effort.
Five Towns forced 24 turnovers and recorded 13 steals, creating extra possessions that proved pivotal in maintaining control despite a second-half push by Villa Maria.
Villa Maria was led by Jordan David-Lewis with 27 points and Jeremiah Clarke with 14 points and 15 rebounds, but the Sound's strong first-half shooting and defensive pressure secured the conference road victory.
Five Towns will look to build on the momentum as conference play continues.
