Five Towns College Men's Basketball Cruises Past Villa Maria College for Key Conference Win
Dix Hills, NY – January 11, 2026 – The Five Towns College men's basketball team earned a strong 90-74 NACIA conference victory over Villa Maria College on Saturday afternoon at the campus gymnasium, improving the Sound record to 4-10 overall and 1-5 in conference play.
The win was fueled by a dominant performance from guard Tayron Bangs, who led the team with 31 points on 8-of-14 shooting, including 4-of-7 from three-point range, while knocking down 11-of-12 free throws. Bangs added 2 steals and 2 assists in 32 minutes, showcasing his scoring versatility and leadership on the court.
"Bangs was incredible today," said Five Towns College head coach. "He got hot early, kept our offense flowing, and played with poise under pressure. That kind of performance can really set the tone for our team."
Five Towns shot 45.3% from the field and 50% from beyond the arc, building a 53-32 lead by halftime and weathering a second-half push by Villa Maria. Other key contributors included Khamari Broomfield, who recorded 15 points and 8 assists, and Marvin Reed, who added 11 points and 5 rebounds.
Villa Maria College was led by Jeremiah Clarke, who scored 20 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, but the team struggled to overcome Five Towns' balanced attack.
The Sound will look to carry this momentum into their next conference matchup as they aim to climb the standings.
