Bittersweet Senior Night as FTC Celebrates Four Seniors and "The Spirit of Fader Award"
Five Towns Men’s Basketball falls 80-49 to Bryant & Stratton–Albany
On a night meant to celebrate the accomplishments and future of its seniors, the Five Towns College men’s basketball team experienced a tough Senior Night setback, falling 80-49 to Bryant & Stratton–Albany at FTC. Despite the emotional significance of the evening and standout contributions from senior Eian Williams, the Sound struggled with shooting efficiency and rebounding, leaving them short of victory.
From the opening tip, Bryant & Stratton–Albany set the tone with a balanced offensive attack. The Golden Bears outpaced the Sound in both halves—scoring 33 points in the first half and a dominating 47 in the second—while Five Towns managed just 26 and 23 points respectively. The final score of 80-49 reflected a game in which the Sound’s struggles on offense and defense were too much to overcome.
Team Statistics:
- Field Goal Efficiency: Five Towns connected on 17 of 59 shots (28.8%), compared to that of Bryant & Stratton’s 31-of-76 (40.8%).
- Three-Point Shooting: The Sound managed only 4-of-16 (25.0%) from beyond the arc, juxtaposed to 10-of-36 (27.8%) by their opponents.
- Free Throws: Both teams were close from the stripe, with Five Towns making 11 of 17 (64.7%).
- Rebounding: The disparity was evident as Bryant & Stratton outrebounded the Sound 60-34.
- Turnovers: The Sound committed 14 turnovers, which contributed to the loss.
Senior Night Spotlight
The evening was intended as a celebration of the seniors’ contributions and future endeavors. Senior guard Eian Williams delivered a commendable performance, recording 12 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals in 35 minutes. Williams’ leadership on the court was a bright spot for the Sound, providing a glimpse of his potential as he closes out his final season at Five Towns. Before the game, Williams received a basketball to commemorate his 1,000 career points.
“Senior Night is always special, and while tonight’s result is disappointing, I’m incredibly proud of our seniors,” said Coach Drzal “Their efforts and commitment were always evident on the court, our seniors’ legacy here is one of growth and resilience.”
Finally, a special award was given out to senior Jeremy Webb known as, "The Spirit of Fader Award". Jeremy was the inagural receipient of this award, which is given to a senior athlete that has demonstrated all of the intangible qualities a student-athlete should have. Moreover, for the positive impact that they have had on our athletics program as a whole. Interim Athletic Director Jason Fiscina said, "Jeremy is a great young man. He is always positive and does whatever his team needs. He is an inspiration to present, and future FTC athletes, as well as a role model of what they should all aspire to be. It was an easy choice to give him this award; we will miss him tremendously."
Despite the setback, the Sound remain determined to finish the season strong with just a few games remaining.
