Five Towns College Esports Defeats Brewton-Parker Christian University in ECAC Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Match
Dix Hills, N.Y. — The Five Towns College Sound Esports Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (SSBU) team secured a strong victory over Brewton-Parker Christian University in ECAC competition, showcasing teamwork, preparation, and standout individual performances throughout the match.
Representing Five Towns College were Dean Flynn (MrFlynn) as a player, Christopher Eliopoulos (Boinga) as captain/player, Layla Garrido (layla) as captain/player, and Jalen Perkins (poobertdoobert) as a player. Joshua Bholan (Tobunga) was available as a substitute, while Evan Yang (TheGamerPlayZE) was subbed in for Dean Flynn between Sets 1 and 2.
The match featured several impressive performances from the Sound roster. In Set 2, Jalen Perkins (poobertdoobert) delivered one of the night's most dominant stretches, taking 10 total stocks from the opposing team and recording two consecutive three-stock victories in Games 5 and 6. In Set 1, Layla Garrido (layla) also made a major impact, taking seven total stocks and similarly achieving back-to-back three-stock wins in Games 5 and 6.
Five Towns College credited the team's strong synergy, coordination, and preparation for helping control the pace of the competition and ultimately secure the win.
"I'm very proud of the FTC Sound SSBU team as a whole," a team representative said following the match. "Tonight really showcased just how much effort they have been putting into practices outside the matches. I'm seeing improvements in all members' gameplay, and their hard work is paying off."
